Ncumisa Ndelu who's with anti-abuse movement #TheTotalShutdown says they'll make their way to government buildings and police stations to deliver their memorandums.

In Durban, marchers will walk from Curries Fountain and gather at the City Hall. Processions will also take place in Pietermaritzburg, Newcastle and Melmoth.

According to the latest statistics, more than 49 000 cases of woman and child abuse were reported in 2017.

Ndelu says there are many others who suffer in silence.

"We must make sure that gender-based violence is prosecuted like the crime against humanity that it is. We need to close this little gap in the enforcement of our laws. If our enforcement can match the laws that we have - we will go a long way. We are saying to women - keep opening those cases and going to the police station. Bang on those doors until they fall," he said.
