Woman stabbed near Gateway mall broke up with suspect

The family of the woman who was stabbed to death near an Umhlanga mall says she had recently broken up with the suspect.
Thirty-year-old Nomfundo Msibi was attacked near Gateway Theatre of Shopping's taxi rank on Sunday.
Durban North police arrested two suspects later that day.
One of them, Sphamandla Khumalo, briefly appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court on on Tuesday, and his case was postponed to next week for a bail application.
Khumalo is Msibi's former partner of eight years.
The victim's brother, Halalisani Mbatha, says his sister had told the family that he had been following her and asking that they get back together.

"My sister said the suspect sent people to stalk her at her workplace. She was making sure not to walk home alone because she believed she was being followed.
"Until the suspect called and demanded his clothes, which he had laid-bought with my sister's ID. We had hoped that after we settled this, he would leave her alone.
"She left home. We understand that they went to Gateway together to take out a lay-buy at a clothing store, and then this happened."
Mbatha says the family, especially the couple's children, have been left traumatised by the incident.
Msibi will be laid to rest in Nongoma on Saturday.
