Woman in Newlands West hijacking being treated for trauma

A woman, traumatised after a hijacking in Newlands West this morning, has been taken to hospital.

The 53-year-old was driving along Lowfield Grove when she was held up by six armed men.
The police's Thulani Zwane says a case of hijacking has been opened and they are searching for the gang.
"The woman was approached by these six suspects who overpowered her and took her vehicle. The suspects pointed a firearm at her and then fled the scene, using her vehicle."
Zwane says up until now, the vehicle is still missing.
"The woman was then taken to hospital for treatment. There are no arrests made and the matter is still under investigation."
