Woman mauled to death by hippo at iSimangaliso park
A woman had died after being mauled by a hippo inside the iSimangaliso Wetland Park in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The authority's Bheki Manzini says the incident happened in the early hours of Friday morning.
He says they have been told the woman is a local who had gone to look for weaving grass in the wetland area.

"It is an unfortunate incident because at iSimangaliso we normally arrange for communities to go there legally under the guidance of park rangers for their safety.
"But in this case it would look like she went there outside of that arrangement which then would have caused that human-wildlife conflict that lead to the fatal incident that was reported."
