The 57-year-old voter cast her ballot at the Faith Mission Church in Evaton on Monday.

Authorities say she collapsed on the steps as she was exiting the church and died.

Her family and emergency services were immediately called.

"The candidates in this ward, whoever wins this ward, should remember that Patricia died for this, and it demonstrates that as a municipality,” said local mayor Gift Moerane.

“We owe it to our people because they are giving their lives."
