Woman critically hurt after taxi hits cow

A woman has been critically hurt after the taxi she was travelling in crashed into a cow on the N3 between Cato Ridge and Hammarsdale, west of Durban.

The accident occurred at about 1.30am this morning.
The uninjured driver of the taxi told emergency services a woman, thought to be about 40-years-old, was trapped in the vehicle.
Medics found the injured woman trapped in the front of wreckage.
ER24 says firefighters had to use the jaws of life to cut her free. She was then stabilised on the side of the road be being taken to hospital for further care.
The cow's body was found a few metres away from the vehicle.
Local authorities are investigating the accident.
