Woman in court for ordering hit on Verulam aunt
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
A woman who was allegedly planning to order a hit on her aunt in Durban is due to make her first appearance in court on Monday morning.
She was arrested at her estate in Pretoria on Friday and will line up in the Verulam Magistrate's Court.
The motive for the attack is not yet known.
Police say they got wind of the woman, who was allegedly looking for a hitman in March this year, to carry out a hit on her aunt from Verulam.
They say they immediately set up an undercover operation.
It saw the niece agree to pay R20 000 for her aunt's life.
Officials say she paid half the amount over to an undercover policeman before they carried out Friday's arrest.
She allegedly agreed to pay the other half after the job was done.
Her aunty has since been placed in witness protection for her safety.
Police are continuing to search for her sister, who agreed to give a picture of her aunt to a hitman.
The 43-year-old is facing a charge of attempted murder.
