Woman accused of witchcraft set on fire

A woman is in a serious condition in a Durban hospital after she was assaulted and set on fire apparently after being accused of witchcraft.

It's alleged some residents of Shannon Drive informal settlement in Sydenham doused her with petrol in the early hours of this morning.
Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says she ran into the bushes where she was found by the police with serious injuries.

"She was taken to hospital for medical attention. Charges of attempted murder is being investigated," she adds.
Rescuers carried her up the embankment in a stretcher and paramedics stabilised her before taking her to hospital.
They say she suffered burns, stab wounds and a fractured ankle.
