Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A 54-year-old woman who allegedly sold a Durban North house that did not belong to her has been granted bail of R30 000 in the Durban Magistrate's Court.
The Hawks say the house is the property of the National Department of Public Works.
It's for use by KwaZulu-Natal's police commissioner.
The accused, Sharmaine Chan, is said to have convinced a property seeker to buy it in 2020 for R2.2 million.

She allegedly took the prospective buyer to an office in Montclair, either pretending to be the owner or being in charge of the estate.
The man alerted authorities after he found construction happening at the property and was told the house belonged to the State.
Chan and her son were arrested last month and are facing fraud charges.
