Woman, 90, shot and killed in KZN
“It is alleged that at about 19:45 the two were in their house [in the] Ncombo area when they were approached by unknown suspects,” said provincial police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane.
“Ellen Mlaba was shot and killed and her boyfriend was seriously wounded and taken to hospital for treatment,” said Zwane.
In a separate incident a 42-year-old man will make his second appearance at the eSikhawini Magistrate’s Court tomorrow for the murder of his girlfriend.
Zwane says Sifiso Gumede was arrested after allegedly killing the woman and burning her body at Port Dunford forest in eSikhawini last weekend.
“The KwaZulu-Natal police strongly condemned such shocking incidents in the province. It is really disturbing that such brutal killings of vulnerable women are reported when we are supposed to celebrate Women’s Month.
“We will make sure that perpetrators face the full might of the law and are kept behind bars indefinitely,” said Zwane.
