A man has been murdered in an apparent drive-by shooting.

Netcare 911 says its paramedics raced to the scene just before 10 and found the victim still slumped in the car.

Newswatch was at the scene and reported that witnesses said that some people, who were nearby, ran for cover when shots were fired.

Scores of people and residents living in the area gathered to witness what will happen next.

What we do know from what we heard from a witness that Newswatch spoke to they say the man was about to leave the parking spot just outside a flat when another car came by and opened fire.

The driver's side of the car has been completely sprayed with bullets.

Carriages of the bullets were also found on the scene, which police have already taken for evidence.

Police have collected what appears to be the personal possessions of the man inside the car.
