Affected areas include Harding, Hibberdene and Park Rynie

Eskom KZN's Khanyisa Sihlobo says some transformers have burnt, conductors have parted and pin insulators are broken.

"The infrastructure has been badly damaged. The Eskom team is currently busy on the ground attending to this.

However, the estimated restoration time is unknown at this stage.

Customers are also advised not to approach any low hanging conductors and any cables that are on the ground.

"When they see that, they must report those low hanging conductors immediately to the Eskom contact centre," said Sihlobo.

Affected residents are advised to switch off all electrical appliances until power is restored.
