Window washer rescued from Durban building
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
A window cleaner has been brought down to safety after getting into difficulty while suspended on a skyscraper in the Durban CBD.
It appears the man, who'd been cleaning the windows of the Southern Life Building on the corner of Monty Naicker and Joe Slovo streets, became entangled in his abseiling ropes because of the strong southwesterly wind that had been blowing at the time.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says various emergency services were on the scene to help him.
He says rescuers from the eThekwini Fire Department had to break one of the windows so they could get to the cleaner.
"With the help of the Durban Fire Department and colleagues, they managed to lower him down to a safe landing. Fortunately, he has sustained no injuries," he says.
