Western Cape ANC slammed for lack of action
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Some opposition parties have slammed the ANC in the Western Cape’s decision not to suspend chairperson, Marius Fransman, pending the outcome of a sexual harassment case against him.
The party resolved on Friday to keep Fransman on in the position, this despite being accused of sexually assaulting a woman at the ANC’s 104th birthday celebrations in Rustenburg in North West last weekend.
COPE’s Dennis Bloem has criticised the ANC's decision calling it unacceptable.
"It is totally unacceptable and a shame from the ANC to say they cannot take action and that they are waiting for the police to charge Marius Fransman," he said.
Meanwhile, Fransman has described the allegations against him as ‘nonsense’. He’s told reporters he has nothing to hide and is co-operating fully with the police.
