Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Storm Eloise could be making its way back to South Africa within hours.
According to the South African Weather Service, Eloise is currently over western parts of Botswana.
Forecaster, Ezekiel Sebego, says it's lost most of its intensity.
He says it will result in some rain in the western parts of the North West province today and in other provinces tomorrow.
Sebego gave the update during a Cooperative Governance Department briefing on the impact the storm has had in the country.
Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma confirmed it's claimed the lives of two young people, a five-year-old boy in Mpumalanga province and a 14-year-old boy from Zululand in KZN, who both drowned due to flooding.
Dozens of homes and other infrastructure in uMkhanyakude, Zululand and other districts in KZN have been damaged.
“The remains of this storm is expected to latch with another weather system. There will be potential heavy rains in the North West and Free State. The weather service is currently monitoring the situation,” Sebego said.
⚠️Yellow level 4 Warning for Disruptive Rain is expected over the western half of the North West, Western and Central parts of the Free State, north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape and the eastern interior of the Eastern Cape tomorrow (Wednesday, 27 January 2021).
