Wearing no mask in public is a criminal offence: Bheki Cele

Police Minister Bheki Cele's calling for laws that would make not wearing a mask in public a criminal offence.

Cele says he was disappointed to see scores of locals and tourists ignoring lockdown regulations at the Durban beachfront on Saturday.
He participated in operations to curb criminal activity and enforce COVID-19 rules.
Cele says police officers can only remind people to do the right thing.

"At the present moment, we just remind them.
If you remind them, they do it or they don't do it.
"We are calling to say it must be a serious offence and we are calling it even with the enterprise to say, Department of Justice, Health and everybody comes with a legal framework."
