The High Court in Pretoria has dismissed an application by the government for leave to appeal a ruling that Chris Hani's killer be released on parole.
Justice Minister Michael Masutha applied for leave to appeal the ruling two days after the 23rd anniversary of Hani's assassination.
Polish immigrant Janusz Walus shot Hani outside his Boksburg home in 1993.
