‘We forgive them’ – says Luke Fleurs family after seeing alleged killers
The family of slain soccer star Luke Fleurs says they have forgiven the men accused of killing him.
Fleurs’ father and brother addressed the media following the first appearance of 6 men arrested for the Kaizer Chiefs defender’s killing during a hijacking last week.
“On behalf of the family, we do forgive those who have done wrong to my brother, but we don’t want any bail. We just want justice for Luke,” said an emotional Josh Fleurs.
The six accused were identified as NdumisoMoswane(26), Fernando Sive (25), Nhlakanipho Dlamini(21), Franky Xaba (25), Maredi Mphahlele (36), Thembinkosi Hlomikhawu (31) in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The men face charges of murder, robbery under aggravating circumstances, illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as defeating the ends of justice.
They were ordered to remain in custody after their matter was postponed until next Friday for further investigation and confirmation of bail information.
Theodore Fluers has described seeing the six men who are accused of killing his son as heartbreaking.
“It was very heartsore for us to see that the accused are so young. They still had their whole lives ahead of the.
It was a heartsore for us to hear that they found weapons and ammunition on them.
“At that young age, for them to be involved in stuff like this is just heart-breaking.”
He explained that their faith guides them to forgive those who have wronged them.
