We celebrated with dinner in Umhlanga: Rugnaths
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
"It's a beautiful feeling to be free".
These are the words of Ravina Rugnath who was acquitted on child prostitution charges in the Durban Regional Court yesterday along with her husband.
The couple and three other men were accused of assault, sexual exploitation of a child and racketeering.
Umhlanga-based doctor Genchen Rugnath was accused of running a brothel involving children as young as 12 from his hotel, the Inn Town Lodge.
Speaking during a press conference in which they called at their attorney's offices in Durban this afternoon, Ravina said it has been a long journey that's had a significant impact on their lives.
She spoke about the moment the judgement was delivered.
Their co-accused Sandile Patrick Zweni, Nonduzo Dlamini and Bhabha Dubazini were found guilty on the counts and handed six life sentences each.
The Rugnaths say they celebrated their acquittal with dinner at an Umhlanga last night.
