Water supply restored in some Chatsworth homes
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Some households in the Chatsworth area, south of Durban have had their water supply restored.

eThekwini says repair work to the burst pipe in the Paradise Valley Nature Reserve is still in progress but technicians have been able to re-commission one of the two pipelines supplying some of the lower lying areas.
Residents from parts of Chatsworth, Northdene and Shallcross among others had been left without the resource since Monday after heavy rainfall damaged some of the municipality's bulk pipelines.

eThekwini's Thulani Mbatha urged residents to use water sparingly.
''We ask people to use water sparingly because what happened last night is the municipality was able to fill up some reservoirs and divert some water so that we can have one pipeline going. You may find some areas, maybe high lying areas, that still have problems with the pressure," he said.
Mbatha says the the damaged pipe is in a difficult location to work.
''Tankers are still on standby to supply water in areas where they are needed. We had to call off the operation at about 9pm yesterday because it became too dangerous.
"It is very important that the safety of workers is also taken into account. There is some welding that needs to take place and the process of diverting the river,'' he said.
