Water storage tankers for drought-hit KZN municipalities

Despite recent rains in the province, we're still not out of the woods yet.
Authorities say KwaZulu-Natal is still in the grips of a severe drought.
Co-operative Governance MEC Nomusa Dube- Ncube today handed over water storage facilities to the mayors of the AbaQulusi, uMfolozi and KwaDukuza Municipalities at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Dube-Ncube says the tankers will service areas such as KwaMaphumulo, uMvoti as well as those in the uThungulu district that have been worst-affected by the dry spell.
Department Head, Ashley Starkey explains how the four tankers with ten taps each will operate.
"These bulk storages will be transported via truck, they will be placed on railway steepers at an elevated height to assist with the gravitation of the water and will be put at central points. The intention is to alleviate the long queues of people standing for water," he said.
