Water to be restored ‘soon’ in Umgungundlovu, Umbumbulu
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Taps in Umgungundlovu down to Umbumbulu should be running again after a leak on a major pipeline was patched.
Residents in areas including Eston, Mid-Illovu and Camperdown spent most of the weekend without running water as Umgeni-UThukela Water worked to fix the problem.
The utility says the leak also posed a threat to housing structures.

The board's Shami Harichunder says repairs were completed on Monday.
"Umgeni-UThukela Water has a large pipeline called 53 pipeline which carries drinking water from outside Pietermaritzburg to receivers in Umlaas Road.
"Late on Saturday, quite a large leak was detected on the pipeline, and a decision was taken on Saturday to shut down this pipeline which will involve the draining of all water so that work can be done on repairing it."
