Speaking for the first time since his arrest and subsequent hospitalisation, Zuma who is talking in isiZulu said South Africans should vote for the party that brought freedom into the country.

The country is heading to the polls for a local government election on November 1.

Zuma said while there is a lot he may also not be satisfied with - he will vote.

“If we don’t vote, we’ll wake up with no land and power to change the lives of South Africans. Think again and vote. Thank you, let us all go out and vote.”

Zuma, who was sentenced to 15 months in jail for contempt of court in July, spent less than two months at the Estcourt facility in KwaZulu-Natal.

He was released last month due to his ill health.
