WATCH: Zuma at PMB police station to lay charges against Downer
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Former president Jacob Zuma arrived at the Pietermaritzburg police station on Thursday to lay charges against Advocate Billy Downer.

Downer is the lead prosecutor in Zuma and French arms company Thales's corruption trial linked to the multi-billion rand arms deal.
Zuma maintains Downer is not impartial and, therefore, not fit to prosecute in the matter.
He's accused the advocate of acting unethically by leaking some sensitive information about his case to the media.
Zuma arrived at the police station on Thursday afternoon accompanied by his private security detail, his legal representative, and Mzwanele Manyi, the spokesperson of the Jacob Zuma Foundation.

Some bystanders outside the station ululated and cheered as the former president made his way inside.
After a brief greeting session, the group proceeded into the office of the station commander's secretary and held a meeting behind closed doors.
In court, Zuma is seeking Downer's recusal from the case, claiming he is biased.
The State denies the allegations.
Arguments in the application were heard last month in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
Judgment is expected next week.
