WATCH: 'Tornado' seen in northern KZN during storm
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The SA Weather Service says its highly likely that areas within the Dannhauser Local Municipality were hit by a tornado on Tuesday.
Heavy rains saws local dams affected by the drought being replenished. The service's Aslam Sardiwalla has told Newswatch they've been sent photos of what appears to be a funnel cloud.
The storm affected residents between Dannhauser and Hattingspruit. The municipality's Mboneni Nene says a home was destroyed in the storm and erosion also damaged some roads.
"There was a house blown in one area on the eastern side towards the town of Dannhauser. The damage could be seen on the road around Hattingspruit. There was little damage [in the area] that was caused by the tornado as a whole," he said.
