WATCH: Suspects open fire on medics in Durban crash-turned-robbery
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A group of Durban paramedics had to dodge bullets on Monday when armed men began shooting from an accident scene.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says their team was driving down Berea Road when they were alerted to a crash nearby just after noon.
"As they were approaching the scene, a vehicle was fleeing from the scene and the occupants started shooting randomly, also shooting at the ambulance.
"One bullet struck the ambulance just above the driver's head, through the cabin into the rear and out the back door. Fortunately, no paramedic sustained any injuries and they were able to stop and assist the victim."

Jamieson says the paramedics reported that they saw the men pointing guns at the crashed vehicle before robbing the driver.
"The victim of both the robbery and who had been in a car accident - at this stage, it is alleged that a large amount of cash was stolen from a foreign gentleman. He was assessed on scene by paramedics. However, he did not sustain any injuries."
Footage of the crash site filmed by a member of the public shows the gang emptying the car's boot while bystanders scream at them to stop.
The robbers flee the scene and seconds later multiple shots can be heard in the distance.
Police were on scene to investigate.
