WATCH: PMB pupil petrol bombs teacher's car over cell phone

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal says its team will be heading to a Pietermaritzburg school to investigate allegations that a pupil set an acting principal's car alight.
A video has been doing the rounds since Wednesday of a grade 10 pupil from Northbury Park Secondary School apparently petrol bombing the educator's car.
It's alleged that the child had his phone confiscated earlier that day, after he was caught carrying it at school.
"We sent the director this morning to rush to the school to address the matter, but also to try and get more information from the witnesses and everyone else that was around ad had information. We will use that information to determine our next cause of action," says department spokesperson Kwazi Mthethwa.

This is the second incident this week in KZN where pupils, who've had items confiscated, resorted to torching school or private property.
"We are calling upon parents to get involved in the education of their own kids, teach them values, morals, respect so that when they come to us we then focus on teaching and learning which is our core mandate,” says Mthethwa.
