An EFF delegation, led by its deputy president Floyd Shivambu, arrived bringing with them live cattle.

The EFF's gesture to bring cattle as an offering is a sign of recognition of culture and tradition.

In the Zulu culture, it's common to not turn up empty-handed when arriving to pay respects and to comfort a bereaved family.

Considering that Prince Buthelezi was born into royalty, cattle is deemed the appropriate offering for the family.

Newswatch also saw this when the Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini passed away.

Truckloads of live cattle formed lengthy queues going into the late monarch's royal palace.

As per tradition, the family would also decide to slaughter some of the cattle gifted in order to feed the locals who often come from far and wide - while some are kept in the family kraal.

Meanwhile, the EFF's Floyd Shivambu has revealed that even before the inception of the EFF, the first bilateral meeting they had was with Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi due to his wealth of wisdom and patience.

A DA national and provincial delegation also arrived at the homestead.
