WATCH: KZN vaccine rollout programme launched today
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN's first round of COVID-19 vaccinations will get underway this morning.
Provincial Premier, Sihle Zikalala and Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu are expected to officially launch the vaccine roll-out programme at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Umlazi.
The Western Cape and Gauteng began administering the jabs yesterday.
The early access vaccine roll-out will see several front line healthcare workers at Prince Mshiyeni Hospital receive some of the 80 000 Johnson & Johnson doses that arrived in the country on Monday.

It's not yet known how many of them were distributed to KZN but we understand that along with the Umlazi facility, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital has also received a batch.
It's not clear how many frontliners at Prince Mshiyeni will be inoculated today.
We expect to get more details about the rollout when the Premier and MEC brief the media later.
