WATCH: KZN records highest number of road fatalities

The number of road deaths over the festive season dropped by 10% compared the previous period.
KZN recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 354 people having died on the province's roads over the December/January holiday period.
Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula says all but two provinces recorded declines in the number of road deaths.
"The province that recorded the highest reduction in fatalities is the Free State which experienced a 35% decline followed by Mpumalanga with 23% decline and the Western Cape with 19% decline. The North West recorded a 16% decline, Northern Cape 13% decline, Eastern Cape 7% decline and KwaZulu-Natal 5% decline."
"In total, the number of fatal crashes were reduced by 3% from 1 438 in 2018/19 to 1 390 in 2019/2020. This resulted in 10% reduction in the number of fatalities."
Limpopo and Gauteng saw increases of 12% and 1% respectively.
