WATCH: I apologise for pain, hurt, indignity of apartheid - De Klerk's final message

The late apartheid-era president FW de Klerk recorded a final message to South Africa before his death on Thursday.

In the recording, which was released by his foundation, De Klerk apologises for the hurt caused by apartheid.
"I, without qualification, apologise for the pain, hurt, and indignity that apartheid has done to black, brown, and Indians in South Africa. I do so not only in my capacity as the former leader of the National Party but also as an individual," he said.
De Klerk died at his home in Cape Town on Thursday following a prolonged battle with cancer.
He was 85 years old.
