WATCH: Firefighters battle blaze at iconic Grey Street Mosque

A fire broke out at the Juma Masjid Mosque on Yusuf Dadoo Street in Durban Central at midday on Monday.

Paramedic Garrith Jamieson says several people have been treated for smoke inhalation.
Reports from the scene indicate that the fire has been contained.
“Paramedics, police and the fire department are in attendance. The road has been closed and traffic has severely been affected. I would encourage all motorists to avoid the area at all costs,” Jamieson said.

KZN Emergency Medical Services are among the paramedics standing by.
“Fire fighters are searching the structure. There are no reports of fatalities or causalities. Reports are that the fire has been contained," KZN EMS Spokesperson, Rob McKenzie said.
