WATCH: eThekwini recorded more than 200mm rain - officials

Cooperative Governance officials say eThekwini recorded some 266 mm of rainfall during this weekend's heavy storm.
Durban's coastal areas, particularly those north of the city, were severely affected.
Newswatch surveyed the storm damage with Premier Sihle Zikalala on Monday.
Residents in areas north of Durban like sea tides, Westbrook, Umdloti and Tongaat have begun picking up the pieces after heavy rain pelted down on them this weekend.
It’s been reported that over 200 mils of rain came down on eThekwini, causing mass flooding and destruction in it’s wake.

Newswatch went to Umdloti, north of Durban where several parts of the main road have collapsed.
Residents from the area say this is the second time they have been affected by the weather and are working to clear roads of debris and mud, amongst others.

Newswatch also made its way to the M4 where the road has completely collapsed between Umhlanga and Beachbums.
Zikalala assessed the damage in the north and other areas.
On Bellamont Road, a number of apartments were affected by a mudslide.
