WATCH: ‘Drinking competition’ claims life of Limpopo man
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
The police in Limpopo are investigating the death of a man who took part in an apparent drinking competition at a local tavern.
According to police, several patrons competed to see who can drink an entire bottle of Jagermeister.
There was apparently a prize on offer for the winner of the competition.
The incident happened at a local liquor outlet at Mashamba village just before midnight on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says a person who could finish the bottle was set to walk away with R200.
“One of them immediately collapsed thereafter and was taken to the local clinic where he was certified dead. Police investigations are continuing,” says Mojapelo.
A 30 year old man from Ha-Mashamba near Elim in Limpopo has died after he entered a "competition" to win R200 for being the fastest drinker of Jagermeister. The man managed to finish the bottle in under 2 minutes, but died shortly after. 😢😢
