WATCH: Dramatic moments from motion to unseat Zuma
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Zuma has survived another motion of impeachment in Parliament. Watch some of the dramatic scenes from the House below.
President Zuma was under much criticism at the National Assembly yesterday as MPs from opposition parties argued their case.
Proceedings were initially interrupted when MPs demanded that Speaker Baleka Mbete recuse herself as Chair, saying the impartiality of proceedings is compromised.
Opposition parties rallied in the call for the president to either step down or be removed.
Watched by South Africans countrywide, 233 members voted against the motion, 143 voted in favour with no abstentions.
However, the fight is not over as parties vow to once again take the matter to court.
Below, EFF leader Julius Malema joined other MPs in the call for Mbete not to oversee proceedings.
Below, the DA's Chief Whip John Steenhuisen on why the Speaker should not preside over the sitting.
Below, Deputy Speaker Lechese Tsenoli reads out the results - which received little praise from the DA and EFF.
