WATCH: Bystander foils armed Amanzimtoti hijacking
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Amanzimtoti police are looking for a gang of suspects following a botched hijacking over the weekend.
CCTV footage shows a Toyota Fortuner pulling into a parking space along Kingsway Road in Winklespruit on Saturday.
Moments later a Mercedes comes into frame, blocking the exit.
Three armed men then jump out and approach the SUV and force its occupants out.
The police's Robert Netshiunda says they tried to speed off with the stolen car, but were stopped in their tracks.

"It is reported that the suspects lost control of the vehicle they had just hijacked after a bystander allegedly fired shots at them.
"Further reports indicate that the suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle. A search for the suspects is well underway."
One of the thieves is seen crawling out the stolen car leaving a bloody trail before getting into the getaway vehicle car with the rest of the gang.
