WATCH: Armed robbers shot dead in Newlands East gun battle
Two armed robbers have been killed in a shootout in Newlands East, north of Durban.
It's understood a gang robbed a courier vehicle on the M7 near Edwin Swales Drive on Friday.
The robbers fled the scene with various goods.

They were spotted travelling near John Dory Drive and pursued by Marshall Security and officers from Phoenix SAPS.
Marshall Security's Andreas Mathios says there was a high-speed chase.
"It was at this stage that the suspects took a wrong turn and crashed through concrete barriers. The suspects exited the vehicle firing shots at the first responders and the first responders fired back."

"Two of the suspects were shot dead. It is unclear at this stage what was taken from the courier van and what the value of the items taken involved. A full investigation will be conducted."
