Waste water handled effectively in eThekwini: CSIR
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
eThekwini has one of the most controlled and effective water waste management systems when compared to other cities around the world.
This is according to the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research which presented findings on two sewage treatment works in the South Durban Basin.
The study focused on effluent from a sewerage treatment works on the Bluff where domestic waste is discharged and another in Merewent where industrial waste is discharged.
Speaking at the event at UKZN's Howard College campus yesterday, the council's Brent Newman says in some countries there have been cases where waste management systems have been poorly located and pose health hazards.
