Warning for beachgoers this weekend
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
The National Sea Rescue Institute is urging beachgoers to be extra careful in the water this weekend.

Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says the full moon spring tide will peak tomorrow.
"This weekend we have spring tide which peaks on Sunday. So this means for the rest of this weekend and for the first half of next week you will notice a higher than normal high tide and a lower than normal low tide and much stronger rip currents," he said.
"So particularly over this period we ask for extreme caution around coastal waters. The next tide is on the 18th of December. That is called the New Moon spring tide," Lambinon said.
The NSRI says those entering the sea must always do so in areas where it is safe to do so, and where lifeguards are on duty.
