Police in Limpopo are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a crash on a local road on Tuesday evening.

Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said it is alleged that three people were traveling in a sedan when their vehicle crashed into one of the pipes used to barricade the road.
Ngoepe said the vehicle burst into flame.
"Two people burnt to death [in the accident] and one was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A case of culpable homicide was opened and the process of identifying the deceased is ongoing," he said.

He said motorists are advised to drive with caution, especially during the night.
"There might still be some barricades on some of the roads and because of the volatility of the situation, the possibility of stones being thrown at passing vehicles from the bushes cannot be ruled out," he said.
Ngoepe confirmed that six other cars were damaged by people throwing stones. He says cases of malicious damage to property have been opened and no arrests have been made.
Police continue to maintain a heavy presence in the area after residents shut down the area as part of the ongoing demarcation protest.
