Vryheid community not pleased with Keaton Energy Holdings
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Even though mineworkers who staged a sit-in protest underground for almost a week at the Vaalkrantz Anthracite Colliery in Vryheid demanding wages owed to them will get what they were fighting for, the community says it's unhappy with mine owner Keaton Energy Holdings.

Last week more than 70 mineworkers refused to come up from a shaft, demanding wages owed to them by their now-liquidated contractor, Nasonti Mining Services.
Community leader Lindo Madida says even though the mine employs locals, the community is still angry that workers are being exploited.
"These people are here only for production, they don't care about the people. They don't want to listen to anybody, they don't care about the community and the workers," he said.
