The IEC says election day got off to a smooth start across the country on Wednesday.

It added that South Africans have been coming out in their numbers to participate in the general polls.
"By 7 o’clock, 93% of the network of 23,292 voting stations were reported open both physically and online. The remainder of the voting stations which were delayed, opened within the hour.”
The IEC's Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Masego Sheburi, briefed the media on the voting process.
