Voice evidence to be used in #DurbanBomb case
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
It looks like the State plans on using voice
evidence in its case against the 12 men who, it says, were behind the planting
of a series of incendiary devices in and around Durban last year.

The men, who are also facing charges related to the fatal knife attack at the Imam Hussain Mosque last May, appeared before the Verulam Magistrate's Court yesterday.
During proceedings, it emerged that the State intends bringing an application for voice samples to be taken from accused number one Farhad Hoomer, who is also the alleged ringleader.
State advocate Adele Barnard's told the court that on the next occasion, she intends bringing an application to obtain voice samples from Hoomer.
It is not clear why exactly at this stage, but Barnard says she informed Hoomer's legal team of her intentions during the course of the week and was advised the application might be challenged but that they need to take further instructions.
In the meantime, she says she has provided the defence with a 'preliminary report with regards to a voice biometrics analysis' and with a breakdown of what will be required of Hoomer during the sample-taking process.
The case is due back in court in April for the application to be heard.
