He is accused of paying the legal fees of suspended KwaDukuza chief financial officer, Shamir Rajcoomar.

The suspended CFO is himself facing charges of bribery and corruption.

Reddy, whose property development portfolio includes KwaDukuza Mall, says there have been rumours that he paid some councillors in KwaDukuza R6 million each.

In 2022, Reddy's Double Ring Trading 7 company was embroilded in a court battle with KwaDukuza Municipality over rates rebate.

In a video posted on social media, Reddy described the bribery claims as vile and malicious.

"All you have to do is go to the local police station, produce a signed affidavit of my involvement and get proof of such involvement, and you will get paid with no questions asked.

"These malicious rumours are emanating from the in-battles within ANC members and I want no part of it. You have to fight your battles without involving my name for your own benefit. The reality is that I have invested R550 million in KwaDukuza, and I have employed 1 200 people."
