Verulam woman critical after stomach cut open
A 25-year-old pregnant woman is in critical condition after her abdomen was slit open in Verulam last night, allegedly by her boyfriend.
Reaction Unit South Africa says they were called to the scene and found the woman with her intestines exposed.
She was also bleeding heavily and rushed to hospital.
The police's Jay Naicker has confirmed the incident.
"At this stage, the motive for the incident is unknown. However, police at Verulam arrested a 26-year-old male. He will be charged for attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrates Court on Monday," he said.
The condition of her unborn child is not known at this stage.
