Verulam spaza owner arrested for selling expired food
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini health inspectors have arrested a tuck shop owner for selling expired food dating back to 2020 in Verulam, north of Durban.

The business was targeted on Tuesday as the city continued with its all-clean-up campaign that kicked off in Pinetown last week.
According to eThekwini Municipality, the shop could not produce a trading licence when they arrived at the Bus Rank takeaway shop.
Inspectors also found that an illegal gambling machine was operated inside.
Cockroaches and excessive dust were also prevalent inside the general dealer.
The city says several areas have been cleaned and visited as part of the ongoing campaign.
The campaign will also see streets cleared of illegal dumping, roads fixed, and water leaks repaired.
