According to police, approximately 1000 community members embarked on a violent protest at the Cottonlands Informal Settlement.

The protestors vandalised the clinic at LivVillage, burnt the guard room and a factory at LIV Village.

Founder, Tich Smith says they have forgiven the community and will try to meet their demands.

Smith says they are in talks with the community leaders to try and see how they can help them further.

"They went into the printing [room] and threw the paint all over the machine, they then went into the welding school and the tunnels. They broke into the cold room, and stole items. They vandalise facilities we try to build - to train and bring employees in," he said.
