Verulam man killed after being hit by car while gardening

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a man was hit by a vehicle and killed near Verulam, north of Durban.

It's understood the 59-year-old was gardening outside his home on Kissoon Road in Ottawa on Sunday.
Prem Balram is with Reaction Unit SA whose medics rushed to the scene.

"When paramedics got to the scene, they found the man trapped under the vehicle. A 65-year-old woman who was seated in the vehicle sustained serious injuries.
"She further explained to reaction officers and paramedics on the scene that she had blacked out while driving. The man was declared deceased by paramedics a short while later."
