Verulam cop in court on drug charges

A Verulam police officer appeared in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Monday on drug charges.
The constable was allegedly caught with drugs while in his police uniform and travelling in a state vehicle.
He was arrested Umhlanga on Sunday night.

Police went on to search his home, where 13 suspected stolen cell phones and unlicensed ammunition were seized.
The drugs are valued at about R 7 000 the cell phones at R10 000 and the ammunition at R3 000.
"The member was found in possession of heroin capsules, mandrax tablets and crystal meth," said KZN Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo.
