Vehicle crashes into pedestrian, aged 8, in Durban

UPDATE: Paramedics say the seven-year-old child has died in hospital.

Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson gives a detailed update below.
Paramedics have performed CPR on a little boy who was knocked over by a car in Durban.
The eight-year-old child was hit by a sports utility vehicle on the Berea at the corner of Sparks and Barnes Road.
Speaking from the scene, Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson said the boy had no pulse when they arrived on the scene.

Jamieson says an ambulance is now en route to hospital with the child.
"The child has been taken to Albert Luthuli Hospital for the urgent medical care he required. At this stage, the cause of the accident is unknown however SAPS is on scene investigating further. Mom is on her way to hospital and we have updated her," he said.
